Colors

In the 1960s, the BMT decided to cover up the traditional mosaics
with large cinder block tile more commonly known as "refrigerator
Tile." A rotating series of four colors was used. The color
names are based on Berol Prismacolor ™ pencils.
The colors are:903 True Blue, 1032 Pumpkin Orange, 1012 Jasmine
Yellow and a discontinued color 963 Warm Grey Light (now the
closest available is 1052 Warm Grey 30%). In Manhattan all
have since been removed except for Rector Street.

Broadway BMT Tile Colors
In the latest Renovation on the BMT Broadway Line, the spirit of
IND tile lives on, this time as a footer! It is not known if other
future BMT renovations will have a footer stripe in the IND spirit.
