Canarsie Line
North = to Delancey Street
South = to Canarsie (pier)
This line is not the
same route as today’s L train but
rather ran on the Broadway Line (Today’s J
line) from East New York to Delancey Street. The track
connections are still in place and used for G.O. reroutes for
trains ending at Broadway Junction on today’s J line.
The Canarsie terminal when opened had three island platforms and
four tracks plus 3 yard leads to the east. There was also a loop
which extended south past the Baumann's Hotel and was removed in
1915. At some date after 1906 the Easternmost Island platform was
removed and a new yard lead was added.(SOURCE: Track Map found by
