Common Flood Prone Sections of the Subway

During heavy rain certain line sections and certain stations tend to flood due to station design or slope of the street.

NYCT is trying to reduce the flooding potential and as such this page is subject to change.

Steps being taken by NYCT include raising of street entrances, Raising Street level vent gratings, Cleaning of street vent gratings in flood prone sections, adding more pumps and installing pumps with a higher capacity.

While not listed here certain station platforms are subject to flooding- some flooding is major with ankle deep water.

Not all of these areas will flood during any possible storm, but this is the "worst case."
