Original Line

City Hall to 145th Street and Broadway

North refers to trains to 145th street or 180th Street Bronx Park and South refers to trains to City Hall

For photos please see www nycsubway.org

The line started on the East side under City Hall Park, ran via today’s 4, 5, 6 lines to just North of 33rd street where it headed to the west side via today’s Shuttle to Longacre Square( Now called Times Square) and then via the 1 line to 145 Street with a branch via today's 2 train to 180th Street Bronx Park. As they say, the rest is history and the East side was extended northward and the West side extended southward. The connector was severed at both ends forming today’s Shuttle. Further extensions soon followed. See www.nycsubway.org for more details including historical articles.
