Team USA is racing after a tremendous week at the swimming pool, where legend Katie Ledecky made history as the most decorated American woman in Olympic history with the women’s silver medal in the 4×200 m relay. Meanwhile, GOAT gymnast Simone Biles became the first American to win the women’s gymnastics individual all-around title twice.

As we enter week two of the Paris Olympics, Team USA is presently leading with 72 medals. Team sports such as soccer, basketball, and volleyball are approaching their gold medal contests. On the track, the focus will be on sprinter Noah Lyles, shot putter Ryan Crouser, hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson.

The United States is the gold medal favorite in the men’s 4x400m relay, having won all but two global or Olympic medals in the race since 2004. The women’s 4x400m relay team is also considered the favorite in Paris, having won seven consecutive Olympic gold medals in this event. Mutaz Barshim of Qatar and Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy are the men to beat in the high jump.

Victor Montalvo of the United States is the gold medal favorite after winning the global title in 2023. Team USA’s Jeffrey Louis is also a medal candidate and will be a formidable competitor for Montalvo.

  • Basketball

Men’s gold medal game at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC, Peacock, and NBCOlympics.com.

Team USA has won four consecutive gold medals in men’s basketball and will be hoping for a fifth when they face France. LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant lead the United States’ star-studded team.

  • Golf

The women’s tournament will air at 3:00 a.m. ET on NBC Golf, NBC, and Peacock, followed by another at 7 a.m.

Nelly Korda of Team USA will seek to defend her gold medal from the Tokyo Olympics. She is the favorite to win gold after winning six LPGA events this year, including a record-tying five consecutive victories.

Team Australia will face Team Spain for the gold medal.
