College golf team watches in horror as Delta employees wildly launch clubs before NCAA Championships

It’s every traveling golfer’s worst nightmare — and this time there was actually a lot at stake.

The X account for the East Tennessee State University men’s golf team recorded a video of Delta employees launching their golf clubs on the tarmac as their team prepares to play in nationals.

“Nice of Delta to handle our clubs with such care…” the tweet from the team read, as players watched helplessly from the plane.

Hopefully, the clubs remained intact as the team is headed to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, Calif., after winning the Southern Conference and advancing through the NCAA Regionals.

Commenting fans reacted in horror to the situation.

“UNACCEPTABLE! Why the silence? And you know this is not isolated,” one follower commented.

“It seems like everyone associated with airlines sucks. Would love to be proven wrong,” wrote another.

“Absolute disgrace come on DA be better!” read another comment.

As the post gained traction, Delta Support did jump into the comments section to try and handle the matter privately with direct messages.

East Tennessee State is coming off a second-place finish at the Chapel Hill Regional, losing by one shot to Clemson.

However, the top five teams advanced to the NCAA Championships.

“You know, we didn’t even think about not making the Top-5 and I think that was a big advantage of ours,” head coach Jake Amos told WJHL of the regional success.

“But, when you’re sleeping on a lead, you’re thinking about it a lot. You want to win and that was our goal. Unfortunately we didn’t get it done, but it could be the best thing that happened to us, honestly.”

The championships, which consists of 30 teams and 156 players, tee off Friday at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in California.
