Nicki Minaj’s England concert gets postponed after rapper was detained by Dutch authorities over weed

Nicki Minaj’s show in Manchester on Saturday night was rescheduled after authorities in the Netherlands discovered marijuana in her suitcases as she was about to leave the country.

Live Nation, the event’s promoter, stated that the concert will be rescheduled and that tickets will be honored.

“Despite Nicki’s best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight’s show happen, the events of today have made it impossible,” the promoter stated in a statement. “We are deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused.”

Minaj tweeted earlier Saturday that she was stopped at the Amsterdam airport as she was about to board a flight for the Manchester performance. Police informed her that they discovered marijuana in her suitcases and that it would need to be weighed, she tweeted.

Cannabis is prohibited in the Netherlands, however it is permitted for recreational use.

According to Robert Van Kapel, a spokesperson for the Netherlands Military Police, a 41-year-old American lady has been arrested for shipping “soft drugs.” He did not name the woman or describe the medications in issue. Police later tweeted that they had fined and released the woman.

Minaj, 41, tweeted that she felt the police were only trying to make her late for her Manchester gig.

“Told you, it’s to try to make me late so they can write negative stories. Jealousy is a disease. You know the rest, You know the rest.” She tweeted. Her officials did not immediately react to queries on Saturday.

The Trinidadian rapper is best known for her singles “Super Freaky Girl,” “Anaconda,” and “Starships.” She has been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards in her career.
