Todd Chrisley and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were previously the center of a massive tax fraud controversy that made international headlines.
According to 11 Alive, the Georgia Department of Revenue accused them of avoiding state taxes between 2008 and 2016.
The state settled its action with the Chrisleys in October 2019, after Todd and Julie paid $147,944.75 as part of the settlement. They also received a refund of $66,000.
Todd has consistently denied the claims made against them. On his podcast, Chrisley Confessions, the reality star discussed the legal issues surrounding him and his wife in March 2021.
The reality star stated that he will provide an update in April 2021, but admitted that there was “lying, cheating, stealing, and manipulating” going on with the Georgia Department of Revenue.
“We have made the decision that we’re going to sit back now, now that the work is done,” he said. “We have things that we believe will shed so much light on that situation.”
According to Distractify, the pair is still facing federal allegations that were brought to light in August 2019.
The indictment alleges that the defendants “commit bank fraud, bank fraud, wire fraud conspiracy, wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and tax evasion.”
According to the article, they neglected to file income taxes in 2009, 2011, and 2012, and the IRS accused them of providing fraudulent financial statements to banks in order to get millions of dollars in loans for personal gain.
Todd’s relationship with son, Kyle Chrisley
Todd Chrisley’s relationship with his son, Kyle Chrisley, has been rocky. Kyle debuted in the series’ first season; however, he later got estranged from his family.
Kyle threatened to kill his father in 2013 while high on drugs (according to Radar). “I asked him what he had taken, and he said that he had smoked ‘crack’ the night before.”
A responding officer wrote. “He later stated he spent $100 on 8 grams of crack.” When Todd came, Kyle yelled, “I’ll kill you, motherf***er.”
Kyle spoke to the Daily Mail in 2014 about his relationship with his father, who now has custody of his daughter, Chloe Chrisley. “My dad showed no interest in Chloe at all until the show and until it was pointed out that having a mixed-race child and getting her and all that would be good for his demographic,” he said. ”
He did not want to see her before then. He stated that he wanted nothing to do with her. Kyle also said that the show had “ruined” him.
Fortunately, the father and son appear to be getting along better lately. Kyle Chrisley is not the only member of the renowned family to have fallen out. Todd Chrisley and his daughter, Lindsie Chrisley, also had a highly public feud.
