We leave the Northeast Corridor and pass under the Market
Frankford Line and cross the Delaire lift Bridge into New Jersey
and enter our first station which is under construction,
Pennsauken Transfer will have an island
platform and two tracks and will have a connection to the
River line Station also under
construction
Cherry Hill has two tracks. We use the
south track which has a high platform to the south along with a
station house. Leaving here we become one track (the north track
being the survivor) .We have one grade crossing at Utica Avenue
in Westmont, a slow section of track and then enter a slight cut
surfacing at PATCO Haddonfield. Our line
is to the North of PATCO and we share a right of way to
Lindenwold where PATCO ends.
Lindenwold has one track and a high island platform
which shares the stationhouse with PATCO (separate fare for
PATCO)
Berlin is a closed station with the station house to the
Southside of the south trackway. We use the north track. It had
a low platform. Locals have confirmed there WAS a station here
and that the name was indeed called Berlin
Atco has 1 track and a high side platform to the
south. We are on an embankment.
Hammonton has 1 track and a high side platform to the
south. We are at grade
Egg Harbor City has 1 track and a high side platform
to the north. We are at grade
Absecon has 1 track and a high side platform to the
north. We are on a fill, with exit downward to reach the street
and sidewalk. The name is pronounced "Ab- see-kon". We cross a
small body of water first to our north an then on both sides We
then cross the ocean and Atlantic City Expressway via a long
bridge.
Atlantic City has 5 tracks. Track 5 has a side
platform Tracks 4 and 3 share an island platform as do tracks 2
and 1 the station has a direct exit to the Convention Center.
The station has skylights and is very light and airy and gives
nice views of trains and the ocean. Platforms are fairly long.
