Stray Kids, a South Korean band, made history on Monday night (May 6), becoming the first K-pop group to attend fashion‘s biggest night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

After considerable anticipation from their fans, all eight members of the group—Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N—arrived at the event dressed nicely in Tommy Hilfiger suits and coats. The band previously worked with an American designer label and appeared in a commercial earlier this year.

Despite their delight for Stray Kids attending the renowned event, fans were outraged by the paparazzi’s treatment of the lads as they posed for photos beneath the white-and-green steps.

A viral video shows a group of photographers evaluating artists’ facial expressions. One of them says, “I’ve never seen so many unemotional faces before,” and another responds, “They’re like robots.”

When the men took off their coats to show their suits for another round of photos, the first photographer said to the other one, “Now, let’s do it with feelings!” He went ahead to mockingly add that everyone should jump as the men are about to perform.

Fans of the group flocked to X to express their indignation over the paparazzi’s comments.
Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editor-in-chief, organizes and presides over the Met Gala, which takes place every year on the first Monday in May.

It is unclear whether the photographers were recruited directly by the event organizers or through a third-party organization.
